The 5th round of political consultations held between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and South Africa
On 26 October 2022, the 5th round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and South Africa was held in Tbilisi. From South Africa the consultations were led by the Deputy Foreign Minister, Alvin Botes, and from Georgia – by the Deputy Foreign Minister, Khatuna Totladze.
The sides discussed a wide range of bilateral and multilateral agendas between the two countries and emphasized the need for further expansion of the bilateral legal framework. Special attention was paid to the importance of deepening bilateral trade and economic relations.
The Deputy Ministers exchanged information regarding the security challenges in the region. The Georgian side provided the head of the South African delegation with comprehensive information about the situation in the occupied territories of Georgia and thanked him for his strong support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia.
Within the framework of the visit, the delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of South Africa will also hold meetings within the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as well as the Foreign Relations Committee of the Parliament and the Georgia Enterprise Agency.
The political consultations between the two countries were held for the first time at the level of deputy ministers.
