Auditorium named after Abai opened at Sukhumi University

On May 18 this year at Sukhumi State University in Tbilisi the Auditorium named after the great Kazakh poet, thinker, and enlightener Abai Kunanbaiuly was opened. The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of Georgia’s cultural and scientific community, university professors and students, and local journalists.The auditorium was equipped with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Georgia and the Kazakh-Georgian Cultural and Economic Association as part of the events dedicated to the anniversary of the great poet, with all the necessary books and periodicals about Kazakhstan, computer equipment.In his speech, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to Georgia Baurzhan Mukhamejanov noted that this class will be a kind of “window” to Kazakhstan and will be an information center about our country. During the ceremony, a letter of gratitude from the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was presented to the Chairman of the Union of Writers of Georgia, the famous Georgian poetess Makvala Gonashvili, who first translated Abai’s poems into Georgian. Participants expressed confidence that the opportunity for Georgian readers to learn about the timeless legacy of Abai in their language will deepen the mutual attraction and understanding between the two friendly peoples.
