Prime Minister of Georgia Meets Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Georgia
Irakli Kobakhidze, Prime Minister of Georgia met H.E. Zhou Qian, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Georgia today.
Close and friendly relations between the two countries, which were elevated to the level of Strategic Partnership, were reviewed at the meeting held within the Government Administration, along with future prospects of cooperation.
Intensification of cooperation in various areas was praised at the meeting and hopes were expressed towards strategic interaction contributing to sectoral, economic and trade relations, as well as people-to-people relations being further advanced.
Cooperation between the Parliament of Georgia and National People’s Congress of the People’s Republic of China has been highlighted. It was noted that Friendship Groups have been created within both legislative bodies, which deepens relations between the nations.
Economic cooperation has also been discussed. It was stressed that China is among the Top 5 Trading Partners of Georgia and turnover between the two countries in January-November of 2023 exceeded 1.5 billion USD.
Successful cooperation between the two nations has also been highlighted at the meeting, by taking into account the special geopolitical location of Georgia, which increases the potential of the country as a corridor connecting East with West.
The Prime Minister of Georgia once again expressed a firm support of the Government of Georgia towards a One-China Principle. Dignitaries reaffirmed each other in the support of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of each other.
