Economy Minister meets with Huawei regional president
Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili met with Gan Jianhua, President of Huawei for the Middle East and Central Asia region, the Ministry of Economy reported.
Discussions focused on the development of Georgia’s ICT sector and Huawei’s potential involvement. The Chinese corporation, which maintains a strong presence globally and cooperates extensively with the international ICT community, expressed keen interest in expanding its activities in Georgia. Huawei representatives delivered a presentation outlining their vision for business growth and collaboration in the fields of technology and innovation.
Minister Kvrivishvili presented the government’s vision for a new technology hub in Kutaisi, highlighting its unique regional significance. The hub will feature an interactive science and technology museum, startup accelerators, an international IT school, a Georgian AI development lab, a data center, and a variety of experimental and industrial innovation labs—including facilities for robotics, drones, IoT, STEAM education, and fablabs—as well as conference and co-working spaces.
Huawei representatives expressed strong interest in the Kutaisi tech hub initiative.
The meeting also explored the potential use of Huawei technologies within Georgia’s energy sector.
