UN Secretary General Arrives in Turkmenistan on Official Visit
On August 3, 2025, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres arrived in Turkmenistan to participate in the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, held on the Caspian coast.
Having warmly welcomed the distinguished guest at the airport, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, the Chairman of the HalkMaslahaty of Turkmenistan Hero Arkadag emphasized that the unanimous adoption at the 63rd plenary meeting of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly of the Resolution “Additional information on the modalities of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries” was a decision demonstrating the high authority of independent, permanently neutral Turkmenistan in the international arena.
Confidence was expressed that the agreements that will be reached as a result of discussions within the framework of the International Conference, covering current issues of our time, will have a positive impact on the economies of countries around the world.
It was noted that the Conference will contribute to increasing the economic potential of developing countries that do not have access to the sea, and to developing interregional and international relations in the trade and economic sphere. As stated, parallel events, as well as meetings and negotiations between the relevant structures, are planned within the framework of the Forum.
Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of holding the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries in the year of the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s acquisition of permanent neutrality and the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations.
Having once again welcomed the distinguished guest, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan thanked him for his efforts to hold the world-class Forum in Turkmenistan.
