79th Indian Independence Day Celebrated in Tbilisi, Georgia with Patriotic Fervor
Tbilisi, Georgia – The newly opened Embassy of India in Georgia organized a grand celebration to mark the 79th Independence Day of India on August 15, 2025.
The event brought together members of the Indian community, friends of India, and distinguished guests to honor this historic occasion.Mr. Subbu Ramesh, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of India in Georgia, unfurled the Indian Tricolour, followed by the singing of the National Anthem. In his address, he highlighted India’s remarkable journey of progress and development under the leadership of Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, who has inspired the nation with the vision of a “Shining India.”Prime Minister Modi’s slogan “Har Ghar Tiranga” (Tricolour in Every Home) resonated across India and abroad this year, with millions of Indians displaying the national flag at their homes as a mark of unity and pride. The same patriotic spirit was reflected in Tbilisi, where the Indian diaspora joyfully took part in the celebrations.

I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to everyone on this important occasion and express our sincere gratitude to our Georgian friends who are celebrating with us. This year holds special significance as we mark our Independence Day at the newly opened Embassy of India in Georgia for the first time.”
The ceremony was attended by several distinguished guests, including Mr. Papuna Janelidze, former Vice Prime Minister of Georgia; Mr. Itsik Moshe, President of the Israel-Georgian Chamber of Business; Ms. Irina Shanidze, cultural activist; and Prince Mamuka Bagrationi of the historic Bagrationi dynasty.The event concluded with cultural performances and a reception showcasing Indian flavors, symbolizing the strong and growing friendship between India and Georgia.
