The 11th Round of Political Consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and the Republic of Uzbekistan Held at the Deputy Ministerial Level

On 13 October 2025, the 11th round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and the Republic of Uzbekistan was held in Tashkent at the level of Deputy Ministers.The Georgian delegation was headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Aleksandre Khvtisiashvili, while the Uzbek delegation was led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Bobur Usmanov.The Deputy Ministers discussed the existing friendly relations and partnership between Georgia and Uzbekistan, noting the recent high-level visits that have further contributed to strengthening bilateral ties.The consultations covered a wide range of issues related to bilateral and multilateral cooperation, including political, economic, and cultural-humanitarian dimensions, enhancement of the bilateral legal framework, collaboration within international organizations, as well as current developments in the region and beyond.The parties expressed satisfaction with the growing trend in trade turnover between Georgia and the Republic of Uzbekistan in recent years, as well as the increase in the number of tourists visiting Georgia from Uzbekistan.The discussion highlighted the growing significance of the Middle Corridor for enhancing connectivity between Asia and Europe, as well as Georgia’s strategic transit potential. The Uzbek side expressed strong interest in the full utilization of Georgia’s transit capacities.The parties also emphasized the successful cooperation between Georgia and Uzbekistan within international organizations, reaffirming their mutual support across various multilateral platforms.The importance of developing cooperation in the fields of culture, education, and sports was underlined.The sides exchanged views on current international and regional developments, including the evolving global security environment.Deputy Minister Aleksandre Khvtisiashvili briefed his Uzbek counterpart on the grave humanitarian situation in Georgia’s occupied territories and on the activities carried out by the Russian Federation along the occupation line. In turn, Deputy Minister Bobur Usmanov reaffirmed the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan’s firm respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia.The parties agreed to hold the next round of political consultations in Tbilisi in 2026.
