Irakli Kobakhidze: Inauguration of Swissôtel Tbilisi clearly reaffirms the success of the tourism industry
The inauguration of Swissôtel, a premium-brand hotel of international standards, in the heart of Tbilisi is yet another vivid example of the success of the tourism industry, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated in his speech at the unveiling event of Swissôtel Tbilisi Hotel.
The Head of Government spoke about the country’s tourism potential and pointed out that its development is one of the main priorities of the Government.
“Our country’s tourism industry is developing in leaps and bounds. The key role in this direction is given to the development of infrastructure. Over the past 14 months alone, some 220 million GEL has been invested precisely in Georgia’s hospitality sphere, and 8,000 new accommodation units have been put in place across the country. We have ambitious plans for the coming years. We want about a billion GEL invested in this field by 2027, as a result of which 37,000 new accommodation units will be created. Of course, all this must be done together with our partners, investors,” the Prime Minister said.
Irakli Kobakhidze congratulated the hotel’s owner and investor Emin Uchar, and the leadership of the world’s leading hospitality group Accor, on the opening of the hotel and wished them success. The investment in the hotel’s construction amounted to 50 million USD.
The event’s guests were addressed with speeches by Accor’s CEO for Near East Europe Alexis Delaroff and Maqro Group’s President Emin Uchar. The event was attended by Georgia’s First Deputy Prime Minister/Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze, and representatives of the diplomatic corps and business community.
