Meeting with the delegation of the Mejlis of Turkmenistanwas held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia
On 23 April 2025, in the framework of the visit of the delegation of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan to Georgia, a meeting of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Mr. A. Khvtisiashvili with members of the delegation of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan was held at the MFA of Georgia. During the meeting, the sides discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Georgia, focusing on interaction in political and diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres, as well as within the framework of international organizations. It was stressed that Turkmenistan highly appreciates Georgia’s support to the UN General Assembly resolutions “2025 – International Year of Peace and Trust” and “Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan”.The role of high-level visits, which act as a solid foundation for the comprehensive and consistent development of bilateral relations, was underlined. The sides stressed the importance of the meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Mr. R. Meredov and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Mrs. M. Botchorishvili within the framework of the official visit of the Prime Minister of Georgia to Turkmenistan, as well as the annual political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries.In the course of the meeting, the sides touched upon the issues of inter-parliamentary relations, which are one of the most important instruments for promoting constructive partnership, maintaining mutual understanding and trust between the states. In this context, emphasis was placed on the significance of the activities of inter-parliamentary friendship groups.Mr. А. Sarjayev briefed Mr. A. Khvtisiashvili on the festive events scheduled to be held in Turkmenistan to mark the International Year of Peace and Trust and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality.At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed their interest in further activating the multifaceted cooperation.
