The celebration of Italian Design Day continues in Georgia
As part of the traditional initiative dedicated to promoting Italian architecture and design—organized by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Culture and now held for the tenth time—an event titled “IDENTICITY. Shaping The Urban Transformation” took place in Tbilisi.
The event was organized by the Italian architectural and design studio Rizoma Architetture, which operates in the fields of innovative design and ecological architecture. It was held under the patronage of the Italian Embassy in Georgia and with the support of the Italian-Georgian Chamber of Commerce (ITAGEO).
The event, dedicated to issues of urban regeneration and the transformation of existing spaces, brought together specialists and experts in the fields of architecture and design. It was opened by the Deputy Head of Mission of Italy in Georgia, Fabiola Albanese, who spoke about the significance of Italian Design Day.
“This year’s theme of Italian Design Day—‘Re-Design. Regeneration of spaces, objects, and ideas’—gives us an excellent opportunity to reflect on the role that design and architecture play in improving everyday living spaces and collective well-being, and to focus on architecture that evolves with consideration for people’s needs and the urban context,” noted the Deputy Head of Mission.
The event consisted of two parts: following a discussion panel featuring representatives of Italian and Georgian architectural studios, an exhibition of furniture and household accessories by renowned Italian brands was held.
