Statement by Spokesperson of Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Georgia
Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Georgia has noted the United States announcement recently to impose so-called “reciprocal tariffs” on all trading partners. This gravely violates WTO rules, and undermines the rules-based multilateral trading system. China firmly opposes this move and will take resolute countermeasures to safeguard its legitimate rights and interests.
This approach disregards the carefully negotiated balance of interests achieved through years of multilateral trade negotiations and the fact that the U.S. has long benefited substantially from international trade, constitutes a typical case of unilateral bullying.
Trade and tariff wars have no winners, protectionism leads nowhere. Under current circumstances, The international community should work together to oppose the US`s protectionism, unilateralism and trade-bullying, uphold the global multilateral trading system.
